Invisalign Candidates and Process
Our previous blog post in this series on Invisalign® discussed the average costs and benefits of using these clear teeth aligners to straighten your teeth. Today’s follow-up blog will share more information about the procedure and certain dental conditions that could qualify you as a potential Invisalign® candidate.
A great smile can do wonders to boost your self esteem. Invisalign®, a series of removable, clear teeth aligners, is a popular cosmetic dental procedure used by Dr. Kevin Sands to give our patients winning smiles. If you are unsure if Invisalign® is the right option for your needs, below are several dental conditions the orthodontic treatment can often be used to improve:
- Crossbite
- Open bite
- Overly crowded teeth
- Underbite
- Overbite
- Gaps
If Dr. Sands evaluates your teeth during the consultation and decides you are a good candidate for Invisalign® teeth aligners, he will make a digital impression of your teeth and create a customized treatment plan. Once Invisalign® receives your digital impressions, they will create a series of virtually invisible teeth aligners that are tailor-made to comfortably slip over your teeth.
Every two weeks your teeth should gradually move into a more desirable position as you exchange your old teeth aligner for the next one in the series. We recommend that you wear the clear teeth aligners for 20 to 22 total hours per day during your treatment. Generally, you will need anywhere from 9 to 20 months of using Invisalign® aligners in order to achieve ideal results, although your treatment length will depend on your specific needs.
